NIGERIANS HAVE SPOKEN
A quest to form an all inclusive representatives of the Nigerian Community in Turkey climaxed Saturday the 26th April, 2014 with a much awaited general election that saw Nigerians from various parts of Turkey exercise their civic responsibility in choosing men and women that would serve them going forward.
Yoruba House, a uniquely symbolic address that serves the course of the Yoruba people and indeed, that of the greater citizenry of Nigeria, was the venue of this epoch making event. Also in attendance to observe the fairness and transparency of the whole process were delegates from Nigerian High Commission, Istanbul Municipal council, African Communities in Istanbul, Nigerian Business Association Turkey, Nigerian Progressive Union Turkey, Nigerian States Associations in Turkey and Friends of Nigeria to mention but a few.
As early as 3 pm, Nigerians started converging and casting their votes in what was largely acclaimed to be the most fairest and freest election of its kind by an association in diaspora till date. Amongst other things, it was credited to have shown how clearly Nigerians in Turkey have come of age in terms of unity, shared responsibilities and a strong sense of patriotism towards the Homeland. After the voting process, the ballots were openly counted by the officials present, the results of which, showed the losers heartily congratulating the winners and promising to work together in the spirit of a Nation to ensure Nigerians are well served.
On the final analysis, Mrs. Gloria IRONSI, secretary to the Mission who led a Team of observers from the Embassy relayed a message from the ambassador, his excellency, Ahmed. A. MALLAMMADORI, who would have personally chaired the occasion but for tight schedules and instead, sent his financial assistance to see to the smooth running of the whole process.
The new executives in their prayers wished the entire citizenry here in Turkey and the world over, a peaceful and prosperous year in all their endeavors
