African Football Cup of Nations 2013
Whenever African cup of Nation is mentioned, thoughts goes to the popular African Nations Cup which Nigeria is the current Champion. Here in İstanbul - turkey, African Cup of Nation is an annual Football tournament / summer activity championed by Nigerian Community Turkey (NICOT) that brings African brothers and sisters residing in İstanbul-Turkey together since 1999.
It started in 1999 like street football where legal / illegal migrants goes to relief themselves when they notices that Police raidings has subsided. As the activity evolved championed by Nigerians (Individuals) who informally sponsored various African National teams with refreshment support from FINANSBANK. Nigerian Community Turkey (NICOT) in partnership with FATIH BELEDIYE ISTANBUL (Fatih Municipal Council) has taken the great tournament to another level with sponsorship proposals coming from various quarters.
The inferior trophy formally presented with little or no prize attached to it has given way to superior trophy. Player managers, team managers, scouts are anxiously waiting for the tournament to commence. Previous years, Professional footballers has been produced from this tournament.
In few days/weeks who knows what will be the result of this years’ tournament, how many Africans/Nigerians are going to be signed into the Professional league, we are anxiously waiting.
