The Executive Council this day expresses her deep condolence to our brothers and sister of Edo heritage on the transition of the Oba of Benin, his Royal Highness, Omo n' Oba N' Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erdiauwa 1. A beacon of peace, love and fairness in the lives of the people of Edo State and indeed the wider Nigeria for decades .
In his walk through times he will forever be remembered as one who fanned the embers of love and peace even in restive times. His contributions to Education as a one time Honourary Chancellor of the University of Ibadan is revolutionary.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
